What's in a Name?

My main job around our house right now is to begin the packing process. We are planning a big yard sale at our house with several of our friends, so my goal is to clean everything out before then and decide what to sell. I came across a box that had keepsakes including my old diaries. Looking through them I found an entry from October 2001 in which I had written down future children names. I listed four boys names, and guess what?!? Carter was one of them!! I totally did not even remember making this list or the fact that I had liked that name nine years ago. How amazing is that! I guess I haven't changed too much!

Occupation?

Yesterday I went to get a massage (wonderful!) and had to fill out an information sheet. It asked me my occupation. For the first time in 22 years (minus a one year break), my occupation is not "student." But, what is my occupation right now? Mother? Moving Coordinator? Landlord? (we have renters for our house!) Yard Sale Leader? Physician? So, after much deep thought I went with "Physician" because it was just fun to write. : )

8 Weeks!

Here are some interesting things about 8 week old Carter:

- He LOVES to lay on his back and talk and kick his arms. He is ready to go somewhere.
- He smiles! And it melts our heart!
- Every couple of days he makes a new sound. The funniest part about this is the dogs perk up when he makes a new noise. I am amazed that they are so used to his normal sounds that they can distinguish a new sound.
- His best friends are his mobile giraffes - he lays in his crib and talks like crazy to them.
- According to our scale which measures in half pound increments, he weighs 12 pounds.
- He wears size 2 diapers already!
- Although he had stopped liking his swing, he now likes it again. The key is that it has to be turned to the fastest speed. It goes so fast that it nauseates me to watch him in it, but he loves it and will fall asleep even when I put him in fussy.
- He does not like to be held towards your body - he always wants to look out and see what is going on in the world.

That is all I can think of now. It is amazing watching a life grow and take shape. And, as we are getting more sleep, feeding less, and have more of a routine it makes it even more fun!

We give

Dear Life,

Thank you for keeping Matt safe, however, him getting in a car accident today was not exactly what we needed right now. We are glad that it was not his fault, but we still feel a bit overwhelmed by this additional stressor. So, we raise our hands to you and say "you win, we give." You have tested us over the past couple of months, and we have survived, but not sure how many more things like this we can take on our plate right now. So, if you could please help us through getting our house rented and moving to Charlotte and all of the other things going on this month and next, we would greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Matt, Colleen, and Carter

Busy Weekend!

We had a wonderful weekend at home. We were excited for Carter to get the chance to meet some more of his family on Saturday. (Uncle Keith - we didn't get a picture of you! Next time!)
