Our whole family was together this weekend and had a great time. James, Shannon, and I participated in our first ever relay triathlon while Matt competed in the whole event. We had so much fun! Matt also had one of his best tris ever and finished in 14th place overall out of about 700 people! On Saturday evening, we had the pleasure of meeting James parents as well! Fun weekend!

Engaged!
Matt, Carter, and I are so excited that Shannon and James are engaged! They are a wonderful couple, and we adore James and are very glad to welcome him into the family officially!! We cannot wait to be a part of your big day! Much love!
Vacation Week
We spend the first week of August at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Here are some of the highlights.
- Carter had his first tube ride behind of the boat. He had fun - I was terrified. I told him "if you fall off, Mommy will come get you" because I didn't want him to panic if he fell off. He repeated this mantra the whole ride.
- His swimming abilities really blossomed in the pool. He now is swimming independently and can take a breath and keep swimming. He loves to dive off the waterfall and go down to the bottom of the pool for his dive sticks.
- We visited a North Georgia "zoo" which was basically a lot of goats that made a lot of noise and clamored for food. Been there done that.
- Shannon came home from Spain - yay!
- Carter and I visited "Big Papa and Grandma" Kipling. Carter finally warmed up to Big Papa and his beard, and we played in the creek.
- We were able to go to Ryan's birthday party and met baby Keegan. It was great to see friends!
- Lots of time to relax and spend with family!

Fourth of July
We enjoyed a relaxing and lazy fourth of July. I was carrying the consult pager, so I had to be ready to go in to the hospital, so we had a little bit of pool time and a lot of hanging out at home. This was Carter's 4th outfit plus his festive bagel.
On the third, we went to Carter's school for a "parade." Carter was not a huge fan of the whole event, but while we were there his teacher told us the following conversation that she had with Carter that morning:
Teacher: Carter, where is your accent from? Are you from New York?
Carter: No
Teacher: Is your accent from Florida?
Carter: No
Teacher: Are you from North Carolina?
Carter: No
Teacher: Well, where are you from then?
Carter: The Zoo.

I'm back.....
I know that it has been a long time! Our family has survived my dreaded second year of residency! I have had one week of third year (which is our easiest), and it has been WONDERFUL! I don't think that I really even comprehended how much of myself I had given up until this past week.
My goals for this next year:
- Exercise with the goal of doing a triathalon
- Blog more
- Read! (work and non-work)
Thanks for supporting us through the last year!
