Two Weeks

We have survived the first two weeks!

And...my blood pressure has actually been on the low side for the past couple of days, so we are doing a trial off the medication! Hopefully it will behave!

Wedding Success!

Saturday night we survived and enjoyed our first wedding as a family of three. Carter was great the entire time! He didn't make a peep during the ceremony and slept the entire reception despite loud music and cold air. I felt very proud and lucky!

Home Alone

Today is my first day at home by myself with Carter. I feel very fortunate that Matt can take 10 days off from work, however, because he is not "essential to the care of the child," he cannot take more than 5 in a row off. I would beg to differ on the "essential" part...

Our first exciting event of the morning was him pooping on me followed by fountain o' urine which went sideways into the pack and play - showering everything inside. : ) Laundry time! Following his next feeding I was introduced to projectile spit up all over the two of us. More laundry! Really, we are doing fine, just so many fun new things to learn about and prepare for.

In my 9 days of being a mother I have gained a HUGE amount of respect for stay at home parents. I promise you, med school rotations are easier than this. However, far less rewarding.

Hope you all are doing well and have a great weekend!

Motion is the Potion

Today we discovered that we definitely have a child that likes to be moving. I should have predicted this based on his in utero dancing. He cries when the car stops - even at stop lights. And, we learned that the swing might become a good friend. (Thanks dad for putting it together!)

Secretions

We are continuing to adjust to our new life. We have had a change in the last day of a lot more "secretions." In the last 12 hours we have gone through four gowns - and I promise we are not just changing them for small amounts of spit up. : ) We have learned a lot about baby boys and their ability to produce amazing fountains!

Peds Visit #1

We went to the pediatrician today. Carter gained three times as much weight as is expected! He is only one ounce shy of his birth weight already. The nurse actually checked the scale to make sure that it was calibrated correctly because he had gained so much weight! He continues to be jaundiced, but nothing worrisome. The doctor said that he looks great!! Next visit in 2 weeks.
